Cardano (ADA) To Launch Shelley Testnet In June After Long Delay, What To Expect

Cardano (ADA) Shelley update has been one of the most anticipated milestones on the blockchain roadmap for a while and was expected to be released in the Q1 of 2019.

But the subsequent delay in releasing the update has dominated conversations within its community with some users alleging that the blockchain could have lost direction.  However, the long wait appears to be over as Cardano has revealed that the first Shelley Testnet would be available from June.

Cardano Senior Product Manager David Esser revealed in an update podcast on YouTube that Shelley Testnet would be rolled out to a small pool of trusted stake operators initially in June. After the initial testing, the Testnet would be available to more operators in the next 3-4 months.

What to expect with Shelley Testnet Update

The announcement has caused excitement within the crypto community with many members on the Cardano Reddit community praising the development.  The testnet would display the power and functionality of the blockchain platform to the public.

With the Ouroboros Genesis proof-of-stake protocol, Cardano guarantees high security matching Bitcoin’s proof-of-work protocols. While there are also functions within the mainnet that would enable the development of quality DApps within the Cardano ecosystem.
