Ripple is one big company that has been very much in the news of late, and for all good reasons. Being a blockchain-oriented payment solutions developer, Ripple has developed some of the world’s most advanced blockchain-based products like RippleNet, xCurrent, xSpring, and xRapid.
That’s why it’s intriguing to imagine what’s about to happen to the gaming industry now that Ripple is showing some interest in it. Such a development is particularly eye-catching considering its potential market impact on Ripple’s native cryptocurrency, XRP.
Breaking The News
According to the company’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple is exploring opportunities to enter the gaming industry. In fact, according to Brad, the company is all set to proactively disrupt the industry in great ways. Brad broke the news while speaking during an interview at the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, last week.
XRP Ledger And Games
Explaining how the company plans to roll out its gaming platform, the CEO mentioned that the XRP Ledger will come in handy in that sense, further noting that the ledger is already facilitating various developers in creating games on the platform.
Brad went on to add that 2019 will be an interesting year as the power of the blockchain technology is tapped for game development. According to him, the use of the new technology in gaming has not had enough attention drawn to it. That’s about to change as the XRP Ledger comes into play.
Brad’s announcement doesn’t come off as hype, especially given that Ripple has been sourcing for partners in the tech industry. As a matter of fact, the company currently has multiple partners across various fields of technology. In 2015, Ripple and Microsoft entered a partnership regarding the Azure Blockchain.
In his speech, Brad also spoke about blockchain-related companies and regulation. In his view, these entities and their technologies need better regulation to streamline the industry.
